Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India is organizing a mega international food summit, World Food India in New Delhi from 3 – 5 November 2017.
A Hackathon would be organized coinciding with the World Food India event.
Description : Indian economy thrives through the means of enterprise creation as one of the prime movers of the economy. In this direction, “Make in India and Made in India” campaigns are integral to entrepreneurship development especially in food sector across the country. Therefore, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role for strengthening the Indian economy. MSMEs have been contributing to spreading entrepreneurial culture through business innovations. Unique feature of MSMEs is that they are widely dispersed across sectors of economy producing diverse range of products and services to meet local as well as global markets. Leveraging information would enable prospective and existing entrepreneurs to speed up their business prospects. An App that would be a ready reference and reckoner for budding entrepreneurs aspiring to setup their micro/medium/small enterprises in food sector. One of the priorities of our Government is the inclusive concept in enterprise creation. This App would benefit all those (budding, existing) prospective entrepreneurs, for enabling them in creating enterprises.
The Food Processing Industry is one of the largest industries in India and ranks fifth in terms of production, consumption and exports. Food processing industry in India is a sunrise sector that has gained prominence in the recent years. Availability of raw materials, changing lifestyles and appropriate fiscal policies has given a considerable push to the industry’s growth.
