Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India is organizing a mega international food summit, World Food India in New Delhi from 3 – 5 November 2017.
A Hackathon would be organized coinciding with the World Food India event.
Description : Food processing industries also consist of various sections such as productions, sales and marketing, logistics, account, quality, control etc. whose proper functioning decides the companies’ objectives. Different stages of food processing industries are inputs, production, procurement and storage, primary processing, secondary processing and retailing. The key performance indicator (KPI) at every stage of process industries ensures the attainment of industries’ goals. KPIs in logistic such as vehicle fill, empty running, time utilisation, deviations from schedules, fuel efficiencies; and KPIS for manufacturing are production count, reject ratio, rate, target, time and overall equipment effectiveness and downtime. In this way, every section has some KPIs which need to be taken care of for the proper and effective functioning of the processing industries. The data of every section of each and every processing industry are required for assessing the progress of food processing area. For this, an app can be developed with all KPIs and data of food processing industries so that government and the public can avail and access the same for policy making and status evaluation, respectively.
The Food Processing Industry is one of the largest industries in India and ranks fifth in terms of production, consumption and exports. Food processing industry in India is a sunrise sector that has gained prominence in the recent years. Availability of raw materials, changing lifestyles and appropriate fiscal policies has given a considerable push to the industry’s growth.
