Innovation Challenge for Disaster Risk Reduction

1. Introduction and Objective

The Ministry of Home Affairs is organizing the Second Meeting of the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (NPDRR), which is an initiative to bring together different stakeholders such as policymakers, disaster management experts, administrators, scientists, community leaders and private stakeholders for comprehensive consultation on disaster risk reduction and preparedness. This meeting is scheduled for 24th and 25th April, 2017, will be attended by 1000 delegates such as senior ministers from state, Centre and UT governments, international organizations, media, NGOs, etc and is likely to be inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.

An exhibition is also proposed to be organized at Vigyan Bhawan, with space provided to a few startups working in the field of disaster management such as GPS based solutions, search and rescue operations, reconstruction, low cost shelters, etc. for showcasing the initiatives during this meeting.

The objective of the Innovation Challenge for Disaster Risk Reduction is to identify startups working in the field of disaster management.

2. Eligibility Criteria

Any startup/entity in the area of disaster risk reduction/management/recovery, such as GPS based solutions, search and rescue operations, reconstruction, low cost shelters, etc.

3. Application process

Duly completed and fully filled forms must be submitted using the online application system before 5:30 pm on 10th April, 2017. The participant will be taken to a page featuring the application form with various fields.

Participant will have to fill out the application form and click 'Submit'.

On successful submission, participant will receive a confirmation email.

Should organizers require additional information, they will contact the registered participant via email. Participant is recommended to duly provide any additional information as instructed.

4. Selection process

A panel of judges under the guidance of the Atal Innovation Mission will select upto top 12 applicants

The selected innovators will be informed of their selection via email/fax/telephone by around 12th April, 2017.

The selected innovators will be invited to showcase their innovations at the event in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on 24th and 25th April (tentative). The exhibition lay out and stall size will be shared closer to the event. The participants will be expected to travel, at their own cost, to Delhi a day in advance to set up the stall at the exhibition.

Two members from each group would be invited to travel to Delhi and be present at the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (NPDRR).

5. Intellectual Property

The organizers do not claim ownership over Intellectual Property Right (IPR) for the Innovation that is sent to the organizers by submitting an application. The IPR shall remain with the applicant at all times. However, we request you to not include any information that you may not want to share publicly.

6. Correspondence

Any correspondence from to participant will be by email provided by the participant at time of filling the application form. Organizers are not liable in case of email delivery failures.
