In last 20 months we have nurtured a tribal rural community from village Amale in Palghar, Maharashtra and spun of 3 economic activities spanning their strengths in tourism, improved cook-stove dissemination and wild honey rearing. We have been able to motivate them to think beyond sustenance and focus on growth and made them capable to build a revenue potential of INR 2 Mn since the start of operations. Currently they target to reach a revenue of INR 25 Mn by Dec 2020.
Rural Economic Activity Launchpad (REAL) is a program by Rural Caravan to identify and nurture potential of scalable economic activities in rural areas. In our research of gaining insights from expert organisations and individuals in the rural space, we identified the most critical gap for enterprises in rural areas failing to scale is their lack of organised operations, seed funds and marketing. REAL program focuses in providing the necessary support to any rural community that shows interest in creating economic activities. Rural Caravan with its expertise in building economic activities provides the skill and will to achieve the goal and also connects them to organisations who can fund their operations and contribute their efforts towards development.
Our CSR for REAL program integrates corporate CSR initiatives either with products or services developed by the rural communities generating demand for them or directly providing support to the rural communities in any format considered legally suitable by the organisation to support the community. The program also consults organisations on CSR initiatives to launch economic activities in rural areas. As of now the REAL program focuses on tree flagship projects; Shwaas, Khoj and Amrit focusing enterprises developed at Amale.
