The objective of the project is to develop a navigation system for the visually impaired for campus navigation. We propose a novel scheme which utilizes a dynamic route map selection strategy to guide the users to the destination safely without obstructing the obstacles with the help of mathematical data base which will be stored in the android application and the navigation will be executed through USHER (Segway) . In our system, after the destination is acquired manually, position of the user is estimated, the most suitable route to the destination is calculated, and the user is guided along this route which is mathematically stored in the system. The route is acquired using the information of the road condition and determined by using our own algorithm. This algorithm finds the shortest route to the destination. However, the shortest route is not the best route for the visually impaired. Because, if the shortest route is rough or narrow (these condition is dangerous for the visually impaired), this route is not suitable for the visually impaired. Therefore, the digital map database in our system includes road condition and the route is determined with consideration of this information. And this system is programmed by the core java language. Ultra sonic sensor is placed at the front of the prototype which helps it detect and avoid collision with obstacles. After detecting the obstacles the prototype follows an stored path to cross it and continue its original path towards its destination.
