The problems that the construction industry is facing nowadays are lazier construction, heavy weight building material, lack of cost effective construction etc. Keeping those points in mind we are coming up with an idea of manufacturing of “plastic embedded light weight brick” which is made up of waste plastic and other cementitious materials. Being lightweight our product provides faster construction and also it imparts lesser dead load to the building. Thus it lessen foundation cost of the whole building. Since, our product is lightweight, it can be effectively used in high earthquake prone areas also. The other advantageous technical features of our brick are high compressive strength, high thermal insulation , high sound insulation, high fire resistance, etc. Now lets come to the environmental problem we are going to solve. According to India.mongbay.com, India generates around 5.6 million tonnes plastic waste per annum, that counts about 15342 tonnes of plastic waste per day. In India, 70% of total plastic consumption is discarded as waste. Since we are using all types of plastic waste in our product, we are aiming for eradicating the whole amount of plastic from our society and provide the habitat a better life for living. Also we have seen that conventional clay brick plant emits high amount of carbon content to the environment and uses high amount of fertile agricultural soil for manufacturing of brick. In contrast to that, our brick plant will be fully energy efficient and it does not require any type of soil for its manufacturing. Since we are using low cost ingredients such as waste plastic and simpler manufacturing process, we can make available our brick at a cheaper rate to the customers and can provide affordable housing for all. So these are the problems we are going to solve and undoubtedly it is a boon for construction sector as a new green building material.
