In the world we live today, almost everything runs on automation and this automation is completely engulfed by technology. Internet of things is also one such kind. What if we use this technology to help mothers? And that is what exactly this system will do. During the infancy of a baby child, mother needs to take care of the baby day and night without leaving the baby alone anywhere. For working woman it leads to disturbance in their carrier as they have to take long leave for looking after the child and sometimes it results in quitting their job. So to ease the hectic life of mothers, this system will monitor the baby when left alone. The only time when mothers can do some other work is the time when baby is sleeping. But during this time mother cannot go too far from the baby, as the baby might wake up and cry or the baby might excrete and the waste can lead to any sort of infections if not cleaned for a long time. By fearing all these consequences, a mother never risks to leave her baby alone. Now this system, with the help of technology will monitor the baby through sensors and will intimate the mother if something is not right through SMS. Like when the baby wakes up and cries or when the baby excretes. So as soon as the mother reads the SMS, she can assist any person in the neighbor or any family member to change the diaper of the baby, or man oeuvre the baby to a comfortable position. This device will ensure the safety of baby in adverse situations using technology. The ultimate goal of this system is to assist mothers is doing their daily basis work even when they are far from their loved new born.
The proposed system can be used by mothers personally to take care of the baby in their residence. This system will alert the mother/guardian through SMS. And as soon as the mother receives the SMS, she can see the baby through online surveillance and take necessary actions. If she is very far from the baby she can request any neighbor or nearby family member to go and take care of the baby. Through this system the mother will receive SMS whenever the baby is crying, moving or urinating. And if any intruder ties to harm the baby, the camera will capture the image of that person and will alert the mother/guardian. In big MNC’s where there is big number of women workers, a special section can be implemented to keep babies of the women working over there with this system installed on every cradle. It will help the workers to concentrate more on their work with a stress free mind. In every hospital there is special ward where babies are kept. In this ward, this system can be installed to monitor the babies and take care of them.
This monitoring system should be manually switched on when the mother wishes to leave the baby alone asleep in the house. In this system there are four sensory devices i.e. a PIR sensor to monitor the physical movement of the baby, a moisture sensor to sense whether the baby has urinated, then a noise sensor to detect whether the baby is crying and a camera for recording the visuals. All these sensors are connected to an arduino chip, which follows an algorithm to process the sensory data and gives the output. So whenever the baby moves from its position, the GSM module sends a text message to the mother and then she can watch the baby through online surveillance and can take action. Similarly if the baby wakes up and cries or excretes, the sensors will detect and the mother will be immediately notified through text messages, so that the mother can assist somebody (like neighbor) to take care of the baby. Or else she has the option to play a melodious music through the speakers to make the bay fall asleep again. In case of any threat, like if any intruder tries to harm the baby, the PIR sensor will sense and the camera will automatically start recording the visuals. Then this recording can be used as an evidence to catch hold of the criminal.
