Salient Technical Features: The invention describes an economical process for producing a sustained release form of Bio-Larvicide floats/granules. Chicken feather based larvicidal emulsion by using Bacillus thurengensis isreliensis has been prepared in the laboratory and shown positive results for killing larva 15-18 min post- application of the liquid. Till today, there is no suitable carrier is available for biological larvicides which would ensure all of the required abilities such as controlled time, floating on water surface, controlled release of larvicide, environmental friendly with controlled sinking and decomposition time. To prolong the activity by controlling its release slowly, we have prepared floats. This ensures a slow release of the larvicide emulsion which settles on the top of the water. The larvae coming to surface of the water for breathing purpose, they eat on this emulsion, the active toxin is released in the midgut of mosquito larvae specifically and kills the larvae by increased permeability of intestinal cells. The larvicide actively works for up to 45-60 days.

The scale of Development: At laboratory scale level, the inventions more specifically claim the prolonged the larvicidal effect by use of an inexpensive biological waste product from poultry industries (bird feathers).
