This project is about design, development and deployment of two connected ideas. A new ecosystem that involves vendors, consumers, information, technology and service. A life changer for street hawkers Walk on any street and you will come across vendors both young and old, hawkers selling vegetables, food and other wares on rickety push carts. These vendors travel a long distance to the wholesale market to load their carts and push to commercial centres or through residential areas to sell. The coverage area of these vendors are limited due to age, health, and fatigue in pushing loaded carts. They may not be able to sell all these perishable items. Most of the vendors are poor and cannot afford to own one and usually hire one on a daily basis paying anywhere between ₹75 to ₹100 per day. A new push cart costs more than ₹9500. What can be done to improve the lot of these vendors? Can technology help these people in making their life easier? Help them to sell produce quickly when it is fresh? The first step is greater mobility. Better mobility can be achieved by an improved design of a lighter and stronger push cart. Design to cost by appropriate use of material and variants for fruits, vegetables, food, wares, and so on. Finally providing assisted electric drive to the push carts. This will assist the vendor to walk along the push cart on the streets. This will improve his mobility and will be able to quickly sell his items. The vendor who is mobile will be able to make more than one trip and increase his income. The second is the development of a pushcart mobile app for vendor and customers. The vendor app will enable the vendor to 1. Share his location, 2. Enter the items for sale and prices, 3. Receive orders from customers, 4. Get electronic payment through BHIM, 5.Do a door delivery to the customers. 6. Receive * ratings from satisfied customers and much more. The user app will show the customer all the vendors nearby and identify the produce that is being sold. Place order on the vendor and either pick up the items are asking for delivery. Make electronic payment through BHIM app. Customer can give Star ratings to the vendor, this will encourage the vendor to provide good service, fresh and quality items at a good price.
