I. Description

In ONGC, there is a variety of database. In terms of exploration, there are databases in the form of reports which have been scanned such as those kept at CEGDIS, E&D Directorate or KDMIPE at Dehradun. Apart from this there is EPINET database, which covers most of the Well database, Seismic database and Well Logging database. The Well database is available in FINDER Format, which has been designed by a global leader in such solutions, while the Seismic and Logging database are in the form of SEGY and LAS files respectively.
Apart from these, SEGY and LAS format files are also loaded in the workstations all over the country at various organizational units for the purposes of Processing/interpretation. Scanned copies or hard copies of generated reports are also available at various work centers too. ONGC uses Industry standard software such as Petrel, Kingdom Suite, Landmark, Paradigm and several others for the purposes of interpretation. Also ONGC has, exploration data capture done through its ERP system (SAP), wherein the costing, drilling and production parameters are being generated on a daily basis.

II. Boundary Conditions

The work has to be carried out within the periphery of the already purchased and being-used software.
No new software to be developed for data integration.
Universal Plug-ins for the existing software for integration of the scattered data is the need of the hour.
Strict Privileges need to be an essential part of the Plug-ins for avoiding data theft and misuse/alterations
Seamless integration of data from various platforms, such as that of nearby acreages/adjoining acreages would be one of the requirements.

Plug-ins capable of importing/exporting database from one platform to another, with possibilities of Seismic projects’ merger.
Generating a single seismic project from smaller subset projects available on different platforms/brand software with requisite corrections in CRS, using a plug-in software.
Integrating the data being generated in SAP into the existing Seismic interpretation software for data such as drilling and production.
